Anatomy & Physiology I

Course Description:

Anatomy and Physiology I is a course for students interested in studying the human body systems involved in sensory integration, cellular communication, growth and motor responses. It may be taken simultaneously, before, or after Anatomy and Physiology II.

Course objectives:

  • Help students develop a fundamental understanding and appreciation for the Endocrine, Nervous, Sense, Integumentary, Muscular, and Reproductive systems

  • Provide students with the opportunity to develop their critical thinking skills through analysis of clinical scenarios, data-based case studies, and more!

  • Prepare students to score high at prestigious competitions such as Science Olympiad and the United States Biology Olympiad (USABO).

  • Personalized instruction from a USABO semifinalist and Science Olympiad test writer!

  • Optional office hours where students can receive extra help and ask questions.

  • Tailor-made homework and assignments that focus on student areas of growth.

  • A Discord server where students can collaborate on homework, discuss class material, and get to know each other!

Class Times: Tuesdays from 7PM - 8PM ET

Length: October 19 - January 11 (12 weeks)

Recommended Prerequisites: Biology or general science class that covers basic biological concepts. Introduction to Biology at Illumina Learning is adequate as well.

Grade Range: 6+
